Diversity, Equality and Inclusion Policy
Last updated: 5 August 2026
Introduction
Summus Technology Solutions Ltd is committed to promoting diversity, equality and inclusion in everything we do. We believe that a diverse workforce and an inclusive culture make us a stronger, more innovative business, and help us better understand and serve the clients we work with.
This policy applies to all employees, contractors, directors and job applicants, and covers recruitment, employment, training, promotion, and the day-to-day working environment at Summus Technology.
Our Commitment
Summus Technology is committed to:
- Treating all employees, job applicants, clients and suppliers fairly and with respect, regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation (the protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010), or any other characteristic unrelated to a personโs ability to do their job;
- Providing equal opportunities in recruitment, training, development and promotion, based on merit, skills and experience;
- Preventing discrimination, harassment, bullying and victimisation in the workplace;
- Building an inclusive culture where everyone feels able to contribute, be heard, and bring their whole self to work;
- Making reasonable adjustments to support employees and applicants with disabilities;
- Reviewing our policies, practices and working environment regularly to identify and remove barriers to equality and inclusion;
- Complying with the Equality Act 2010 and all other applicable UK equality and employment legislation.
Recruitment and Employment Practices
We aim to build a diverse team by:
- Writing job adverts and descriptions in clear, inclusive language, and avoiding unnecessary requirements that could disadvantage particular groups;
- Advertising roles through a range of channels to reach a diverse pool of candidates;
- Basing recruitment, selection and promotion decisions on objective, job-related criteria;
- Offering flexible and hybrid working arrangements where the role allows, to support employees with different needs and circumstances;
- Providing induction and ongoing training that includes our expectations around equality, dignity and respect at work.
Preventing Discrimination, Harassment and Bullying
Summus Technology will not tolerate discrimination, harassment, bullying or victimisation of any kind, whether by employees, contractors, clients, suppliers, or any other party connected with our business. Employees who believe they have experienced or witnessed such behaviour are encouraged to raise it, without fear of reprisal, through their manager or by contacting us directly. All concerns will be treated seriously and investigated appropriately.
Building an Inclusive Culture
Beyond compliance, we want Summus Technology to be a place where people from different backgrounds and with different perspectives can do their best work. We support this by:
- Encouraging open dialogue and feedback on our culture and working practices;
- Supporting flexible working to accommodate different needs, including caring responsibilities, disabilities, religious observance and personal circumstances;
- Reviewing our benefits, policies and working practices to ensure they work for a diverse team;
- Being open to learning and improving as our team and our understanding of good practice grow.
Responsibilities
Overall responsibility for this policy sits with the senior management of Summus Technology. All employees, contractors and managers are expected to:
- Treat colleagues, clients and suppliers with fairness, dignity and respect;
- Comply with this policy and challenge behaviour that falls short of it;
- Complete any training provided on equality, diversity and inclusion;
- Raise concerns or suggestions for improvement with management.
Managers have a particular responsibility to apply this policy consistently in recruitment, day-to-day management, and career development decisions.
Monitoring and Review
We will review the effectiveness of this policy and our diversity, equality and inclusion practices at least annually, and will make changes where we identify opportunities to improve. This may include reviewing recruitment outcomes, employee feedback, and how well our working practices support a diverse and inclusive team.
This policy was approved by senior management and published on 5 August 2026, and will next be reviewed no later than August 2027.
